Communal tension broke out in Mominpur, West Bengal on the occasion of Milad-un-Nabi and Sharad Purnima. Ekbalpur police station was gheraoed last night and several vehicles were vandalized and stone pelted. During this, bombs were also thrown at vehicles. At present, no statement has come from the police but BJP is attacking Mamta government regarding Mominpur violence. BJP leader and Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari has demanded the deployment of Central Force from Union Home Minister Amit Shah, questioning the law and order situation in Bengal.
According to the information, a sudden violence broke out in Ekbalpur of Mominpur late at night on Milad-un-Nabi. Members of a particular community gheraoed the Ekbalpur police station. After this, the uncontrollable mob vandalized the nearby shops apart from the vehicles parked on the road. There was an atmosphere of tension here since Saturday. It is being told that there was a ruckus in Mominpur over flag hoisting.
RAF deployed in the entire area After the Mominpur violence, RAF was deployed in the entire area. Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari tweeted, "Before law and order gets out of hand in Bengal, I have written to Hon'ble Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Governor La Ganesan ji in the wake of Mominpur violence and vandalism at Ekbalpur Police Station." Have requested to deploy forces.
