Waterlogging in Gurugram in first rain, Traffic Police appealed for Work From Home

Heavy rains in Delhi NCR on Monday morning brought relief from the heat but normal life has also been affected. Roads were waterlogged due to rain. Due to this people are facing great difficulties in commuting. Meanwhile, to avoid inconvenience to the people, the Gurugram Traffic Police is engaged in decongesting the roads.

Gurugram's Bakhtawar Chowk, MDI Chowk, the area near DLF Phase 1 Metro, Kanhai Chowk, Agrasain Chowk and many other areas have been waterlogged. In view of the warning of heavy rains on May 23, the District Magistrate of Gurugram has advised people to work from home. In the advisory, the District Officer has asked private institutions/corporate offices to order their employees to work from home.

Most Affected Places

People faced prolonged power cuts and traffic jams on the roads due to rain and thunderstorms. Many commuters got stuck on the roads and the waterlogging caused traffic jams. There are also reports of uprooting of trees at dozens of places during the storm.

The most affected places are Narsinghpur, Jharsa Crossing, Sector-29, Sector-38, Sector-50, Rajiv Chowk, Sheetla Mata Road, Civil Lines, Golf Course Extension Road, Vatika Chowk, Sector 52 and Daulatabad Flyover.DCP (Traffic) Ravindra Kumar Tomar said that at least 2,500 police personnel have been deployed at prominent places to manage the traffic.

Delhi also suffering

Delhi recorded a minimum temperature of 18 degrees Celsius on Monday morning due to thunderstorms and rain. Trees were uprooted in some parts of the national capital and traffic jams were reported at various places near ITO, DND and AIIMS on the first working day of the week.

According to the Meteorological Department, this was the first moderate-intensity thunderstorm of this season. The beginning of summer is considered from March 1. The Meteorological Department said, "Generally between March and May, it rains for 12 to 14 days with thunderstorms. But in this season it rained only four to five times and that too was mostly dry.
