Weather Update: Many States in the grip of Heatwave, Yellow Alert Issued in Delhi- Watch Video

Weather Update Today: All over North India including Delhi NCR is getting record-breaking heat. The mercury has reached above 44 in the national capital. Hot winds and loo are increasing day by day making it difficult for the peope. Heatwave is likely to prevail in the capital till the beginning of May.

According to the Meteorological Department, the temperature in Delhi can reach 46 degrees Celsius today. However, during this time there will also be a thunderstorm on April 29. But the slight rain will get no relief from the heat. According to the Meteorological Department, heatwave conditions will continue over Vidarbha, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odisha, Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh during the next 5 days. The situation will remain the same in Delhi till May 1, Bihar till April 29, Chhattisgarh during April 28-30 and northern parts of Gujarat on April 28. 

Heatwave likely for next 5 days in Delhi

According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of a severe heatwave in many states including Delhi for the next five days starting from Thursday. The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert. The maximum temperature in some parts of Delhi may even reach 46 degrees Celsius.

Temperature expected to rise in Punjab

The temperature is expected to rise further in Punjab on Thursday. Cloudy skies are likely over Bathinda and adjoining areas, while heatwave conditions will prevail over the rest of Punjab. The maximum temperature of mercury is expected to reach 42 to 43 degrees Celsius.

Himachal can receive rain

In Himachal Pradesh, there will be sunshine in the plains on Thursday, while some places at higher altitudes may receive rain. According to the Meteorological Department, the possibility of heatwave is less in the state now as cold winds will prevail in most parts, which will give relatively relief from the heat.

Chance of rain in Jammu and Kashmir

Chances of rain in 48 hours after the temperature crosses 40 degrees in the Jammu division. Light to cloudy sky is expected in the next two days. According to the information received from the Meteorological Center of Srinagar, on April 29, 30, there will be light relief from the scorching heat.
