Weather Update Today: Severe cold wave has started in the national capital Delhi. Due to the icy wind coming from the northwest region, the minimum temperature in some areas has reached around 3 degrees Celsius. Cold wave prevailed in entire Delhi on Sunday as the maximum temperature was five degrees below normal. Sunday was recorded as the coldest day of the season.
It was definitely sunny on Sunday, but due to cold wave, people did not get relief from cold. This time the maximum temperature was the lowest on Christmas day in eight years. Earlier in the year 2014, the maximum temperature was recorded at 16 degree Celsius.
According to the Meteorological Department, Delhi recorded a maximum temperature of 16.2 degrees Celsius, which is five notches below normal. The minimum temperature was recorded at 5.3 degrees Celsius, three notches below normal.
When the maximum temperature is five degrees Celsius less than normal, it is considered a cold day and when the minimum temperature is four and a half to five degrees Celsius less than normal, it is a cold wave. The minimum temperature in Aya Nagar was four and a half degrees below normal and the minimum temperature in the Ridge area was 4.9 degrees. Because of this, there was a cold wave.
