Weather News Today: With the onset of the monsoon in Delhi-NCR, heavy rainfalls in many parts of Delhi were witnessed. The Meteorological Department had already issued a forecast for the arrival of monsoon and good rains on Thursday. From early morning the clouds started raining and sometimes fast and sometimes slow, it rained throughout the day. Meanwhile, the Indian Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for Friday as well, with the possibility of this spell of rain continuing for a week.

Monsoon was Late by 2 days

At the same time, the monsoon came in Delhi on Thursday, two days late than the normal date (June 27). The special thing is that on the very first day there was a record-breaking monsoon rain. The maximum temperature recorded a drop of up to seven degrees. The residents of Delhi also got a lot of relief from the scorching heat.

Delhi's base station Safdarjung Observatory recorded 116.6 mm of rain from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm, the highest in a single day in June in at least 14 years. On 18 June 1936, the capital received 235.5 mm of rain, which is a record so far. The weather station at Lodhi Road recorded 107.6 mm of rainfall during this period. The Ridge received 65.2 mm, Palam 31.8 mm and Ayanagar 51.9 mm, Delhi University 58.5 mm and Pusa 44.5 mm.

It is to be known that Delhi receives an average of 65.5 mm of rain in the month of June. Significantly, rainfall recorded below 15 mm is considered light. Medium between 15 and 64.5 mm, heavy between 64.5 mm and 115.5 mm, very heavy between 115.6 and 204.4.

Extremely heavy rainfall above 204.4 mm is considered.On the other hand, on Thursday, Delhi's maximum temperature was recorded at 29.4 degrees Celsius, seven notches below normal, while the minimum temperature was recorded at 27.6 degrees Celsius.

The maximum temperature was the lowest temperature recorded in the last four months of summer. It is 11 degrees lower than the day before. The maximum temperature on Thurday was 40.9 degree Celsius. The humidity level in the air was 100 to 62.
