Weather Update: Why there was a sudden change in the weather before the monsoon? Alert issued in these states

The mood of the first monsoon season in the country has suddenly changed. A rain alert has been issued in many states of North India today with strong thunderstorms. Strong storms and rain have caused heavy damage in the national capital Delhi. At the same time in Gurugram, the roads were submerged due to rain. 

Due to this dangerous storm, trees were uprooted and fell at many places in Delhi NCR and the wind speed obstructed the movement. Many flights have also been affected at Delhi airport amid thunderstorms. The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for the next 24 hours.

Reason for weather change

The reason for the sudden change in weather is believed to be Western Disturbance. According to Skymet Weather, the Western Disturbance is over North Pakistan and adjoining parts of Jammu and Kashmir. A Cyclonic Circulation is persisting over Northeast Rajasthan and adjoining areas. A trough is extending from Northeast Rajasthan to Meghalaya across East Assam, Bihar, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal. A Cyclonic Circulation is persisting over Rayalaseema.

Alert in these cities

For the next two days in UP, Bihar, MP, Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Jharkhand, thunderstorms, rain, There is a possibility of hail and lightning. IMD Meteorologist RK Jenamani said that today there was a moderate thunderstorm with wind speed of 50-70 kmph in Delhi NCR. Apart from Delhi, there has been a drop in temperature by 8-12 degrees Celsius due to thunderstorms in a large area of North-West India. 

There is no heat wave condition in Delhi till 28th May. He said that for the first time this season, such a drop in temperature has been recorded. Orange alert continues for Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal and Uttarakhand till tomorrow. 

The officials of the Meteorological Department have estimated the loss of kutcha houses/walls and huts. There is also a possibility of traffic disruption in Delhi-NCR. Several major roads have already been blocked by uprooting of trees. Officials tweeted that traffic is expected to be disrupted with low visibility.
