According to the forecast released by the Meteorological Department on Thursday, a new Western Disturbance has become active in the Himalayas. It will affect the northern states of the country from Friday. It will rain from the mountains to the plains. Its effect will be more visible on Friday and Saturday. If there will be snowfall on the mountains, then there will be light to moderate rain in the adjoining plains.

According to the Meteorological Department, a Cyclonic Circulation is persisting over Tamil Nadu and adjoining areas. Due to this, a trough has remained up to North Karnataka. At the same time, north-easterly winds are blowing towards the coastal areas of North Tamil Nadu and South Andhra Pradesh. Therefore, light to moderate rainfall at isolated places may occur widely over these three states and adjoining areas.
The IMD said that light to moderate rain and snow is likely in Jammu, Ladakh, Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan and Muzaffarabad in PoK and Himachal Pradesh. Whereas, there is a possibility of light to moderate rain and snowfall in Uttarakhand on Saturday.
