On February 26, the CBI detained Deputy CM Manish Sisodia in connection with the Delhi Liquor Policy investigation. Sisodia has now petitioned the Supreme Court to prevent his arrest. Abhishek Manu Singhvi, the attorney for Sisodia, asked the Chief Justice to hear the case as soon as possible in the morning. He should move to the High Court or pursue other legal avenues, the CJI advised. However, the Chief Justice later discussed the hearing at attorney Singhvi's request. At 3:50 pm, there will be a hearing before the Supreme Court.

Manish Sisodia's attorney gives statement

Manish Sisodia's attorney, speaking on his behalf in the alleged liquor scandal in Delhi, said to the court, "The Finance Minister is Manish Sisodia. He must deliver the budget. What occurred yesterday to require the detention of the Finance Minister? Will he be unavailable any longer? Or was there another reason for this arrest? An individual and an organisation are being attacked in this lawsuit."

He said that this was a good enough case to deny remand. He stated that because Sisodia acted in his capacity as a representative of the Delhi government, neither he nor the decision can be held accountable.
