Who is Droupadi Murmu? All set to be elected first tribal woman President of India- Watch Video

Publish Date: 22 Jun, 2022 |
The former governor of Jharkhand, Droupadi Murmu, is expected to be chosen as the country's next president, making her the first member of her tribe to hold the position.
After former Union Minister Yashwant Sinha was announced as the joint nominee of the major opposition parties, including the Congress, TMC, and NCP, 64-year-old Murmu from the Santhal community in Odisha was named the presidential nominee of the BJP-led NDA on Tuesday night.
Her candidacy, declared by BJP president J P Nadda at a meeting of the party's parliamentary board, looked to have put some Opposition parties in a bind, particularly the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), which gets its electoral strength from the state of Jharkhand.
