India falls in the Severe category

India has been given a score of 29.1 on the Global Hunger Index, which falls in the 'severe' category of hunger levels. Yemen is ranked 121 on this list. While China and Kuwait are the Asian countries that have been placed at the top of the list. The list is dominated by European countries including Croatia, Estonia, and Montenegro.

The GHI score is calculated on four parameters, including undernourishment, child wasting, child stunting (children under five who are short for their age), and child mortality (children under five years of age). death rate). According to its standards, countries with a score of less than 9.9 are considered 'low', those with 10-19.9 'moderate', 20-34.9 'severe', 35-49.9 'dangerous', and those above 50 as 'very dangerous.

GHI warns India

GHI said the world faces a serious challenge in efforts to end hunger with the economic consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic, including conflict, the climate crisis, and the war in Ukraine. The report warned that the situation could worsen as the global crisis escalates. "The scale of potential solutions and investments required are known and quantified," it added. Instead, the problem lies in the implementation of the policy and the lack of political will in the world.
