Reason for China giving so much importance to Tawang 

There is a dispute over some areas on LAC. China tries to capture these parts. But China gives special importance to Tawang. It is the intention of China that after occupying this post, along with Tibet, it should also monitor the LAC. If China occupies Tawang, it can stake its claim on Arunachal Pradesh anytime. Because Tawang is present at the China-Bhutan junction. 

The Dalai Lama declares Arunachal Pradesh and Tawang as part of India. This is the same place where Tibetan religious leader Dalai Lama first reached. For this reason, China considers the Dalai Lama a separatist leader. China fears that the Dalai Lama may appoint his successor in Tawang. By occupying Tawang, China wants to destroy the Tibetan Buddhist center of Tawang. If China takes control of Tawang, then its grip on Tibet will become stronger.
