This year the heat wave is troubling across the country. In February itself, the temperature has reached 7 to 10 degrees above normal and it is predicted that this trend will continue during the coming summer.
There are concerns over the possibility of an intensely hot summer and extended heat waves this year. According to IMD, the prevailing hot weather is expected to fall in another two days but will likely remain above the normal temperatures.
The maximum temperature in February is predicted to be around 28 degrees C based on the record of the 30-year period from 1981 to 2010. The minimum temperature is expected to be around 15 degrees C.
In the past week, maximum temperatures have been 5-11 degrees C higher than normal in northern and western regions of India. Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Maharashtra have been the hottest till now, with temperatures in a few places reaching almost 40 degrees C.
