Pakistan's newly appointed Army Chief General Asim Munir has started showing sharp attitude against India as soon as he took over the post. He has said that if his country is attacked, the Pakistani armed forces will 'not only defend every inch of our motherland, but also fight the enemy'. Munir made this statement on Saturday during his first visit to the border areas in the Rakhchikri sector of the Line of Control (LoC).
He said, 'We have recently seen highly irresponsible statements by the Indian leadership on Gilgit Baltistan and Jammu and Kashmir. Let me make it clear that the Pakistan Armed Forces are always ready to fight the enemy to protect every inch of our motherland.
General Munir has replaced General Qamar Javed Bajwa on 24 November. Bajwa retired after serving two consecutive three-year terms as army chief in a coup-prone country. During his visit to the border areas, Army Chief General Munir was briefed about the latest situation along the LoC and operational preparedness of the formation.
