Apple has provided abundant evidence to the West that India is an ideal location for manufacturing. Apple has set an example for other Western manufacturing behemoths who may have previously had serious reservations about India's ability to support businesses wanting to shift manufacturing from their China operations. Tesla, a manufacturer of electric vehicles, may be one of them. Tesla has already attempted to enter India.

Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, appears to be thinking about India lately. Musk recently made a suggestion that he like Indian food, particularly butter chicken and naan. According to sources, Musk eventually made the decision to follow Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Twitter last month. Social media users circulated a screenshot of Musk's Twitter 'following' list. This became a hot topic on Twitter, with many reading it as a hint that Musk was warming up to India despite last year's failure to secure a contract from the Indian government to sell Tesla vehicles. He stated on Twitter a few weeks ago in response to India overtaking China as the world's most populous nation: "Demographics is destiny."
