World Art Day 2023 | World Art Day Date: Every year on April 15, people all across the world celebrate World Art Day. The purpose of the day is to advance the creation, appreciation, and sharing of art. The International Association of Art, a global partner of UNESCO, established World Art Day. The anniversary of Leonardo da Vinci's birth is also commemorated on this day.

World Art Day History

World Art Day was created at the 17th General Assembly of the International Association of Art in Guadalajara, Mexico. Previously, World Art Day was observed annually beginning in April 2012. 

Leonardo Da Vinci's birthday and his incredible artwork are also honoured on this day. Bedri Baykam of Turkey sponsored the event, and Rosa Maria Burillo Velasco of Mexico, Anne Pourny of France, Liu Dawei of China, Christos Symeonides of Cyprus, Anders Liden of Sweden, Kan Irie of Japan, Pavel Kral of Slovakia, Dev Chooramun of Mauritius, and Hilde Rognskog of Norway also co-signed. Later, the idea was unanimously approved by the general assembly.

World Art Day Significance 2023

World Art Day is observed in the celebration of Leonardo da Vinci's birthday. Leonardo da Vinci was seen by the IAA as a representation of international peace, freedom of speech, tolerance, and fraternity. The purpose of World Art Day is to promote an artist's originality and inventiveness. The day also emphasises the variety of artistic expression that exists.
