One of the most prevalent respiratory disorders affecting both children and adults is asthma. The airways get inflamed and constrict due to this chronic (long-term) lung illness. When exposed to triggers, the already inflamed airways enlarge even more and secrete more mucus, making it difficult to breathe. Coughing, wheezing, difficulty breathing, and/or chest tightness are some of the signs of asthma. Severe asthma attacks can be fatal for some people.

By taking the prescribed medication, living a healthy lifestyle, and paying attention to symptoms, asthma can be effectively treated. People with asthma can live active, normal, productive lives with the right care. Despite the fact that asthma affects millions of people, there are still many myths and misconceptions about it.
