World Intellectual Property Day 2023: The objective of World Intellectual Property Day, which is observed on April 26th, is to increase public understanding of how patents, copyrights, trademarks, and designs affect our daily lives. The goal of intellectual property (IP) rights is to promote innovation and creativity on a global scale, with an emphasis on the ability of the next generation to develop long-term sustainable solutions.

Intellectual Property Meaning

Intellectual property (IP) refers to intangible assets created by the mind, such as inventions, works of literature and art, designs, symbols, names, and pictures utilised in business. Intellectual property rights provide owners of these intangible assets authority over their creations, whether they be private individuals or corporate entities.

World Intellectual Property Day History

WIPO, a self-funded specialised agency of the UN, is essential to the development of a just and open international intellectual property system. In order to commemorate the founding of the WIPO Convention in 1970, the member nations of WIPO decided to observe World Intellectual Property Day on April 26 each year in the year 2000.

The Convention attempts to close the gap between the concept of intellectual property as a legal or commercial idea and its effects on the lives of individuals. WIPO hopes that through commemorating this day, it will raise public awareness of the value of intellectual property rights and foster global innovation and creativity.

World Intellectual Property Day 2023:  Significance
