Rift In Punjab Congress: Even after the election of Navjot Singh Sidhuas the state president of Punjab Congress, the controversy revolving around Punjab Congress is not taking a break. The split between the Congress party of Punjab is still going on and the dispute between Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh and Navjot Singh Sidhu is firing up. CM Amarinder Singh is still not ready to meet Sindhu while Sidhu has shared that he has asked for the time to meet the former. Meanwhile, on behalf of Capt. It has been cleared that Sidhu has not asked for any time to meet him and said that there is no need of meeting without a public apology.
Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has denied all the reports claiming that Navjot Singh Sidhu has sought time to meet him. The Captain also dismissed the appeal of all those leaders saying that he would not meet Navjot Singh Sidhu till he (Sidhu)publicly apologizes to him for his tweets and statements.
On the other hand, Captain Amarinder Singh's camp has also become active after Sidhu's meeting with MLAs, ministers and Congress leaders. Along with these three senior state cabinet ministers Brahm Mohindra, OP Soni and Vijay Inder Singla once again called on the Chief Minister. Meanwhile Captain Amarinder Singh will also host lunch for the Congress MPs of the state today.
The ministers and leaders close to the captain also have a tough stand against Navjot Singh Sidhu. Chief Minister Amarinder's stand of asking for an apology from Sidhu has also been supported by ministers and leaders close to him. Before meeting the CM, senior Congress leader Brahm Mohindra, who held the number two position in the Punjab cabinet, also agreed to Capt.’s demand.
While he welcomed the decision of Sidhu as the state president, he refused to meet him until Sidhu released his public apology and resolved issues with the captain. He said that the decision to make Sidhu the president is of the high command and it is welcome.
However, Minister Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa had appealed to the Chief Minister to forget the tweet made by Sidhu and forgive Sidhu with a big heart as he did in the case of Sukhpal Singh Khaira. Minister Sukhbinder Singh Sarkaria says that when the Captain forgives Pratap Singh Bajwa and Khaira, he should show big heart in Sidhu's case as well.
