The extremely severe cyclonic storm Tauktae struck the coastline of Gujarat on Monday night with severe winds blowing for 4 hours straight at a speed of 190 kmph, as per the reports of the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD).
Due to Cyclone Tauktae, the reports of uprooted trees and electricity towers emerged from various regions of the state, which lead to loss of power and electricity cut at various parts of Gujarat.
The Cyclone Tauktae has reportedly passed Gujarat, but its after-effects such as heavy rainfall and strong winds are still visible in regions of Gujarat. As a precautionary measure, the Surat Airport has been shut until 1 PM.
While due to this, Cyclone Tauktae, 2 big ships are stuck at the Arabian Sea with 410 passengers, and to rescue those ships, 3 ships from the Indian Navy have taken up the responsibility.
Around 12 people have lost their lives due to the destruction caused by Tauktae in Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra, and Goa. More than 2 lakh people from Gujarat have been evacuated to safer places.
