IPS officer Subodh Jaiswal has been appointed the new director of CBI. He will serve a tenure of two years. The Central Government informed about the appointment of Jaiswal on Tuesday. Jaiswal is a 1985 batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer and has previously held the post of Director General of Police of Maharashtra. He was the director-general of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) before becoming a director in the CBI.
Badminton Association of India (BAI) President Himanta Biswa Sarma was recently elected to the Badminton World Federation (BWF) Council for a four-year term until 2025. Sarma, vice-president of badminton Asia, received 236 votes. During the Virtual Annual General Meeting (AGM) and the election of the global governing body of sports, 31 members were in the fray for 20 places in the council. He is also the Vice President of Badminton Asia and the Chief Minister of Assam.
