1. What is Nord Stream 2?
Nord Stream is a system of offshore natural gas pipelines running from Russia to Germany and via Baltic Sea. The system includes two lines running from Vyborg to Lubmin near Greifswald forming original Nord System, and two lines under construction running from Ust-Luga to Lubmin termed as Nord Stream 2.
2. What is the concept of a bad bank?
A bad bank is a bank set up to buy bad loans and other illiquid holdings of other financial institutions. An entity holding significant non-performing assets can sell these holdings to the bad bank at market price and can clear its Balance Sheet by doing so. However, it will still be forced to take write-downs. The first-ever bad bank in the world is Mellon Bank.
3. Which Sikh guru faced martyrdom in the hands of Aurangzeb?
Guru Teg Bahadur Ji was the ninth Sikh guru who suffered martyrdom on the orders of Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb for resisting forceful conversion of Kashmiri Brahmins to Islam during Aurangzeb’s rule at Chandni Chowk, New Delhi. His son, the tenth Sikh guru, Guru Gobind Singh Ji’s 354th birth anniversary was celebrated on 20th January 2021.
