Earthquake tremors were felt across the country on Wednesday morning of July 21st. The tremors were felt in districts of Rajasthan, Meghalaya and Leh-Ladakh leaving people in panic and stress. The magnitude of the earthquake has been measured at 5.3 intensity in Bikaner, Rajasthan. At the same time, the intensity of 4.1 and 3.6 has been recorded in Meghalaya and Leh-Ladakh respectively. However, there is no report of any damage of lives due to earthquakes in all the three states and UTs.

Earthquake in Bikaner at 5:24 am

According to the National Center for Seismology, an earthquake occurred in Rajasthan's district of Bikaner at 5:24 am on July 21. The intensity of this earthquake was measured at 5.3 on the Richter scale. The intensity of the earthquake was high here but it occurred early in the morning when people were in deep sleep. 

The earthquake  shook  the West Garo Hills of Meghalaya

Earlier, An earthquake also occurred in Meghalaya's West Garo Hills at 2:10 am and its intensity was reported as 4.1 on the Richter scale. However, there is no report of any loss of life in the area.

Earthquake tremors of 3.6 felt in Leh-Ladakh

As reported by ANI, earthquake tremors were also felt in Leh Ladhak at 4:57 am today. Although its intensity was 3.6.

How did the Earthquake happen? 

Earth inner layers consist of 4 layers including Earth's inner core, outer core, mantle and crust. The upper mantle core is divided into several thick layers and these plates keep moving in their place, when the movement of the plates becomes more or they collide with each other and any relatable incident causes the crust to shake and that’s how earthquakes occur.
