Financial assistance of Rs 5000 to auto-taxi drivers along with free Ration to Poor by Delhi Government

The Delhi government has started the process of paying a lump sum of five thousand rupees (Rs 5000) for the paratransit drivers (auto, e-rickshaw and rural service) under the driver benefit scheme. 23 thousand auto, e-rickshaw, rural service have been given assistance from the government, while 20 thousand applications will be paid soon on completion of verification of the application. Meanwhile, the Delhi government also decided to distribute free ration to poor people. 


5000 Rs given to Auto Rickshaw Drivers

According to Transport Minister Kailash Gehlot, This scheme is proving a big relief from the government during the lockdown to compensate for the loss of drivers. So far, more than 160,000 applications have availed the advantage of this scheme. 

In a conversation with news agency ANI, Kailash told, “A total of 1,60,000 applications have been received by the government, out of which 23,000 auto drivers have been given Rs 5,000 through direct transfer scheme after verifying their Aadhaar and account numbers. Around 20,000 more applications have been verified and we will transfer the fund into their account at any time.”

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced relief for the drivers in the first week of April, in view of the lockdown implemented to prevent the spread of Covid-19 infection. The imposition of restrictions on public transport services has left these drivers unemployed. Financial assistance is being given to the badge holder auto, taxi, rural service, quick service to get out of this situation of crisis.

Free Ration to 4 Lakh People

31 lakh people are being given free ration during the uprising coronavirus situation by the Delhi government. In the release issued by the government, it is said that those who do not have cards are also being given free ration. Ration has been given to about four lakh people so far. The Delhi government has also claimed to provide morning and night meals to 10 lakh people daily, including doubled pension to widows and disabled and elderly pension holders.

5-5 thousand sent to the account of 35 thousand construction workers

Earlier, CM Kejriwal also announced that money has been sent to the accounts of labourers associated with the construction sector. 5-5 thousand rupees have been added to the account of about 35 thousand labourers.
