MK Stalin Oath: Under the administration of Banwarilal Purohit, Stalin sworn in as the Chief MInister of TN

MK Stalin Oath:

The oath ceremony of DMK president MK Stalin took place today, i.e., on 7th May 2021, where he was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu at Raj Bhawan, Chennai. The oath ceremony of the DMK chief and other 33 ministers, was conducted under the presence of Governor Banwarilal Purohit. The ceremony was conducted keeping in mind the Covid-19 protocols and the social distancing norms were duly followed, with less than 300 people attending the ceremony.  

The suggestions made by Mr. Stalin on the appointment of ministers and their portfolios were approved by Purohit on 6th May 2021. While the minister’s lists don’t state the name of MK Stalin’s son Udhayanidhi. It must be noted that DMK fought the Assembly Elections 2021 with its allies and won with a clear majority. Out of the 234 seats, DMK bagged 133 seats and fought the polls after forming an alliance with other parties including Congress.  

MK Stalin will now be responsible for various portfolios including Home, General Administration, Special initiatives, Special Programme Implementation, and Welfare of Differently Persons. Moreover, his cabinet claims to be an amalgamation of both the young and the experienced ministers. While it is for the sixth time that the chief minister of Tamil Nadu will be from the DMK, since 1967, wherein C N Annadurai was the first one to be elected as the Chief Minister, followed by Stalin’s father M Karunanidhi.
