Covid-19 Vaccine rules:
Amidst the second wave of coronavirus pandemic in the country, the central government has amended the rules for procurement of vaccines for private hospitals. To purchase the Covid-19 vaccine, private hospitals will now have to order on the CoWin app or its official government website, as purchasing the vaccine stock directly from the vaccine manufacturers has been banned by the government. These new rules will come into effect from 1st July.
According to the new rules, private hospitals can only order up to double the stock of the total weekly consumption. However, the hospitals which do not have any previous record, but are participating in the vaccination drive can hold up the vaccine stock as per the availability of beds.
It must be noted that these new rules came after the nationwide free vaccination campaign by the central government from 1st June, under which, the private hospitals were allowed to buy 25% of the vaccine directly from the vaccine manufacturers.
