The Sports Ministry of India has declared the launch date of the theme of the Olympic Games 2021, Cheer for India. After being directed by PM Narendra Modi, the Sports Ministry will launch the theme or the Olympic Games on 23rd June.
It must be noted that the launch will be conducted without the audience considering the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic situation in the country.
Considering the data of the last three Olympic Games, the number of athletes participating from India has increased, and the country is again preparing to send 190 members Olympic contingent to the Tokyo Games this time.
The reports state that the Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) will support the Olympic athletes, and the cricketers will as well use their huge social media reach to push and promote the athletes. However, the financial support by the sports ministry is currently under consideration.
The president of the Indian Olympic Association Narinder Batra also stated that over 100 athletes have qualified for the Tokyo Games, while 25-35 more could make it for the event.
While the Minister of State of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Kiren Rijiju also gave hints on the Sports Ministry planning to pay tribute to the ace Athlete Milkha Singh who succumbed to the Covid-19 virus on Friday.
