Earlier, he had said that he would decide whether to enter politics or not, followed by discussing with the office bearers of Rajini Makkal Mandram. It must be noted that today Rajnikanth is also going to meet his fans. Rajini Makkal Mandaram, which came into existence in 2018, was considered the launch vehicle for Rajinikanth's political party.
The actor had distanced himself from politics at the end of last year citing health reasons. The actor had announced that he would not join politics and it was also announced earlier that political parties would also not start. In a letter issued at that time, Rajinikanth wrote, 'I have decided not to join politics because it is not possible to meet people during the election campaign in the time of Covid-19.'
Rajinikanth had said, 'Some people may criticize my decision not to enter politics, I am not ready to take any risk'. He had also said, 'I know how bad I felt when I made this decision.'
Moreover, several members of Rajni’s team were found positive while shooting for a film, after which filmmaker Kalanidhi Maran took the decision to postpone the shooting.
