Kanwar Yatra 2021:
The Supreme Court has issued a suo moto notice in UP in Uttar Pradesh for allowing the Kanwar Yatra 2021. Taking suo moto cognizance of the matter, a bench of Justice Fali Nariman has issued a notice to the Uttar Pradesh government. And now the next hearing of this case in the court will be on 16th July 2021.
Considering the current situation of the Covid-19 pandemic in the country, various states have canceled various pilgrimage and religious tours. However, the UP Government has approved the Kanwar Yatra 2021 following all the Covid-19 protocols. And as per the recent reports, the Supreme Court has issued a notice to the state government and summoned it.
CM Yogi Adityanath held a meeting with the officials last week to take stock of the security and preparations for the Kanwar Yatra. After which the CM had ordered that the officials should issue guidelines regarding the Kanwar Yatra after discussing with Delhi, Rajasthan, Haryana, and Uttarakhand.
It must be noted that the Uttarakhand government has decided to cancel the Kanwar Yatra at this time of the year considering the expected third wave of the Covid-19 pandemic.
