The second wave of Coronavirus has brought devastating results for the country. While the healthcare system is continually working on its toes to help people, new cases are arising every day. While many states are fighting their battle with the virus, Uttar Pradesh is among the worst hit. On Wednesday, April 28, the state recorded the heist single-day spike death toll due to Covid-19 and 266 people lost their lives due to the disease. Meanwhile, there were more than 29,824 new cases added to the tally of 3,00,041 active cases. And the death toll of the state now records 11,943 deaths till day. Seeing the critical situation of Uttar Pradesh, the state government has decided to impose a complete lockdown from April 30 evening till 7 am on May 4.

To date, the state has recorded 11,82,848 cases of Covid-19. Earlier the state government led by Yogi Adityanath announced that there will be a weekend lockdown in UP till further orders.
The decision of complete lockdown was taken by the state government after the Supreme Court permitted the order of Allahabad High Court asking the state government to impose strict restrictions till April 26. The order was seeking lockdown in the cities with the highest Covid cases including Allahabad, Lucknow, Varanasi, Kanpur, Nagar and Gorakhpur.
