World Book and Copyright Day 2021:

Since books are considered our best friends, during these difficult times, they have even become our philosopher, guide, healer, and a mode to escape the sadness of such difficult times, and introduce us to just another fantasy world in a parallel universe. So, just imagining this world without books would be considered another crime. 

So, having much talked about the existence of books, let’s also consider the precious contribution made by the authors who write these beautiful and precious books. Well, a special day is dedicated to these authors known as the World Books and Copyright Day. In this article further, we will know more about World Book and Copyright Day, also known as World Book Day or International Day of the Book. 

History of World Book Day 2021: 

World Book Day was celebrated for the first time on 23rd April 1995 by UNESCO and the day is being celebrated to mark the contribution made by authors and the importance of books, ever since.   

Why is World Book Day celebrated on 23rd April?

As per UNESCO, considering the Gregorian Calendar, it is believed that on 23rd April, the birth and death anniversary of many proficient and ace authors falls. The day also marks the death anniversary of famous authors such as Willian Shakespeare, Miguel de Cervantes, and El Inca Garcilaso de la Vega, and birth anniversaries of other prominent authors in history.
