World Food Day 2020:  World Food Day 2020 is celebrated every year on 16 October by many organizations which are related to food security, such as the International Fund for Agricultural Development, World Food Program and more. This day is celebrated to spread awareness to the people suffering from hunger and to ensure the need for food security and nutritious diet for all. The main objective of World Food Day is that food is a basic and fundamental human right. 


World Food Day 2020 Theme 

The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic has affected countries around the world, with #WorldFoodDay calls for global solidarity to heal those most vulnerable and to help make food systems more sustainable for them.


World Food Day 2020 History

The member countries of the Food and Agriculture Organization established the World Food Day at the 20th General Conference in November 1979 and began celebrating World Food Day on 16 October 1981. The decision was ratified by the United Nations General Assembly on 5 December 1980 and urged governments and international, national and local organizations to contribute to celebrate World Food Day. Since 1981, World Food Day 2020 has been held every year. 


Why is celebrated

The aim was to end the hunger spreading all over the world forever. This day is celebrated every year with different themes. This year also a theme has been set. The FAO keeps taking necessary steps to end ever-present hunger.
